A beautiful and well-groomed grave site is a tribute to the memory and respect for the deceased. We offer our assistance in caring for the grave for those who take care of the last refuge of a loved one but do not have the time or opportunity to visit the cemetery regularly for cleaning.
We’ll take care of cleanliness and order in the cemetery. Having ordered the cleaning of the burial site, you can be sure that the work will be done accurately and efficiently.
Sometime in early May 2022, I decided to visit my grandfather’s gravesite, the last time I was, there was when I was still a child with my parents, so I did not know where his burial site was located. I called my mom who informed me that the gravesite was located at the Veterans Cemetery in Riverside, California. My mother then told me how bad she felt for not being able to visit her father’s gravesite due to her moving out of state. My mother then asked me if I could clean up around her father’s gravesite, clean his headstone, leave a nice flower arrangement, and take a picture for her.
On the morning of Friday, June 17, 2022, two days before Father’s Day, about a month after I visited my grandfather’s gravesite, I was working my regular job delivering flower arrangements. I am very busy, especially during this type of holiday. On this day, a family ordered a flower arrangement delivery to their father’s gravesite for Father’s Day. As these types of orders are not permitted at my job, and my job did not notice the kind of order I was given, I still proceeded with the order. It was a beautiful flower arrangement with a card and a message from his wife and three kids. Just like my grandfather, he was a World War II veteran. He died in 2017. I knew by the message on the card that I would have to search for his gravesite and that it was a person who was deceased.
I went to the cemetery and worked with the coordinator who gave me a map and showed me where this gravesite was located. Even though it was time-consuming and it would cause me to lose money, in my heart I felt that I should proceed with the order. I searched for this man’s grave when I found it, I said a few words and I placed the arrangement on his headstone. I felt the need to clean up the leaves and outdoor debris around the gravesite, though it was not my part of my job I just felt that I needed to do this. When I was finished, I sat in my truck and had lunch. I gazed around and noticed so many grave sites that were overcome with weeds, tall uncut grass, foliage, and some headstones that were muddy and even had puddles over them. I saw one particular grave that had extremely overgrown weeds, grass, and foliage, and some trash that had most likely blown and got trapped in front of the site. Instantly I felt the need to come back and take care of these graves.
I returned the next weekend with a string trimmer and a rake that I had borrowed from my dad and other things I could think of, like a gallon of water, and a rag. I cleaned up around the site and a few other grave sites near it. When I left, not only did I feel great happiness for what I had just done, but I felt a great passion to continue doing this work. I thought about it, and I realized that many people cannot tend to their loved ones’ gravesites due to busy lives, moving away, inability, etc… I also realized that this is very sacred to us. Our hearts and our memories are dedicated to our loved ones, and we live for them even when they are no longer with us. We cannot forget. This is what Los Angeles Grave Care is dedicated to “Taking care of our loved ones and the final resting place which, we find to be sacred as much as you do”.
